A Wells Fargo receipt of a shipment on March 14th, 1871, from San Francisco, California, to the U.S. Branch Mint. The shipment was addressed to T. L. Smith, the First Auditor of the Treasury Department in Washington, and it was forwarded to New York. It was sent by the Overland route.
