This Day in Wells Fargo HistoryApril 18, 1906

A massive earthquake and fire devastated San Francisco. Wells Fargo bank president I.W. Hellman described the disaster to a Los Angeles banker, "San Francisco is in ashes — every building of consequence is demolished.” Including Wells Fargo’s bank.
