Plush Pony Trixie debuted in 2005, and was named after a real horse who worked for Wells Fargo.
Trixie was born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma Territory. She started working for Wells Fargo in 1918, pulling the wagon that picked up and delivered Wells Fargo Express packages in her hometown. Trixie’s driver carried an iron hitchweight in the wagon, to keep her safely tethered at the curb while he attended to customers’ business. A wool blanket kept Trixie warm in the winter.
Trixie’s name was listed last on this page from the company’s records along with other horses from Ardmore in the 1900s.
